The death has taken place of the wife of former Taoiseach and Longford native Albert Reynolds.
Kathleen Reynolds passed away this morning at the family home in Dublin. The 88-year-old was a Sligo native and was also the mother of seven children.
She was well known in the 1990s when she accompanied her husband on several foreign trips while the Longford TD served as Taoiseach between 1992 and 1994.
She is understood to have been ill for some time and no details of her funeral have yet been announced.
Albert Reynolds died in 2014 aged 81.
My comhbhrón le clann Kathleen Reynolds. Kathleen’s husband, Albert Reynolds, did more than any Taoiseach before him on the peace process. Kathleen was very much his partner in this work. She always made me welcome and I am very sorry to hear of her death.
