South Roscommon councillor John Keogh is backing Dr Martin Daly in Fianna Fáil's selection convention - after withdrawing himself this morning.

Keogh was one of five candidates nominated for the Roscommon-Galway convention, for the upcoming general election.

But only Dr Daly and Senator Eugene Murphy remain in the race, ahead of Thursday's convention in Roscommon town.

Keogh says he's pulled out because of the one-candidate directive from party HQ - and because he feels the Ballygar GP is better positioned geographically.
