Kevin Lunney has said the journey to full accountability for his abduction is "not complete".
His victim impact statement was read to the Special Criminal Court this morning as part of the sentencing of the three men found guilty of falsely imprisoning him and causing him serious harm.
The statement was read by Detective Garda Linda Harkin, who said Mr Lunney compiled his own statement, but while present today, he didn't wish to read it to the courts in person.
In it, he spoke about the impact the 2019 abduction had on him both physically and mentally.
He added that the anguish it caused to his family was a greater torment than the physical pain inflicted on him.
His fellow company directors, as well as other staff and the greater community were thanked for their solidarity in the aftermath.
The Court was told that while Mr Lunney sees today as a major milestone, he said the "journey to full accountability was not complete".
The sentencing of the three men continues before the non-jury court this afternoon.
