Killoe Emmet Og have been successful with their appeal in their original appeal to the 2019 Longford GAA U16 final.
The GAA's Central Competition Controls Committee (CCCC), who took over the investigation of the initial matter surrounding the club's refusal to play an U-16 'A' final in the county until an objection to the constitution of their opponents', St Colmcille/St Francis, team in their final round game (against Killoe) was heard, upheld the objection over the weekend.
Killoe had been suspended from all competition from Under-16 level up last summer after their failure to pay a fine of €750 for non-attendance at the under-16 final.
As reported in today’s Irish Independent, The “CCCC determined that the U-16 final should never have been fixed until the Killoe objection was heard under the terms of rule 7.5(l), which allows for situations where "it is not reasonably possible to proceed with the hearing of the objection or counter-objection before the date of any fixture in the competition that could be affected by the outcome of the objection or counter-objection, the Competitions Control Committee shall postpone the fixture"”.
"CCCC has been able to establish that a St Colmcille's/St Francis player that had played in that game against Killoe should have been under suspension as he received a straight red card in a previous game which was reported as two yellows."
"CCCC were able to investigate the details of this protracted saga under the terms of rule 7.1 (a) which allows them to intervene when there is "a serious case that may cause damage, reputational or otherwise, to the Association."
St Colmcille's/St Francis have until today to lodge an appeal.
