Killoe returned to championship action with a deserved one point victory over Mostrim, but it was Mostrim who were celebrating.
Killoe win group one of the Peter Hanley Motors Longford Senior football championship after the 2-9 to 14 point win, but Mostrim advance on score difference ahead of Clonguish.
Mostrim now advance to the quarter-final where they will meet Abbeylara while St. Mary’s Granard will face county champions Killoe.
Killoe led 2-6 to six points at half-time thanks to a Daniel Mimnagh goal and a Mark Hughes penalty plus two points each from Mark Hughes (1f) and Larry Moran and one each from Ciaran Donohoe and Eamon Keogh.
Mostrim fought back in the second half even though Larry Moran scores pushed Killoe 2-15 to nine points ahead at the second water break.
Three Brian Farrell points including two free’s and a Darragh Doherty score with a Brian Farrell free four minutes into additional time saw Mostrim lose out by one point but advance ahead of Clonguish on score difference.
Mostrim are set to meet Abbeylara in the quarter-finals on Wednesday evening September 16th while Killoe will meet Granard on the weekend of September 20.
