The Education Officer at the Knights and Conquests Visitors Centre at Granard in Co Longford says 2023 is set to see even more exciting developments there for the local community.
Deirdre Orme says the project involving the building of a traditional Norman Village on the site will see the project becoming one of the Midlands most significant tourism attractions.
The Knights & Conquests Heritage Centre opened in late September 2018 and despite the constraints of Covid the centre has proved a major success so far with the opening of a new cafe at the premises in July of last year.
Tenders for the first phase of the Norman Village ,estimated to cost in the region of €3.5 million, were published in November last.
Education Officer Deirdre Orme says they're delighted to see the momentum continuing to build on this hugely exciting development.
"We are eagerly awaiting the announcement from Longford County Council on the outcome of the tender competition. 2023 will be a year for development and delivery of phase 1 of our living heritage village. It will be a gamechanger but it will give resurgence and new momentum behind this project in 2023 because there's a lot of effort and hard work that goes on behind the scenes".
