A local airport is reaching 95 per cent of its pre-pandemic passenger levels.
Ireland West Airport Knock has seen a strong growth in recent months with the recruitment of 50 staff across all of its departments.
The Mayo based aviation facility is currently operating routes across the UK and Europe and its Marketing Manager Donal Healy says the airport is seeing pent up demand following the pandemic for sun holidays.
He's also confident that reported Ryanair and Aer Lingus strikes later this month will bear too much of an impact on the facility.
Speaking to Shannonside FM Donal says there's a rebound in air travel with passengers from across the West and Midlands using the airport.
" Its been very strong, we've had a very very strong Easter period during April and that has continued into May and June just past has been a very strong month but passenger levels are close to reaching 95% of what they would have been in June 2019".
"You know when you can fly from your house in Longford and be somewhere like Barcelona or Majorca by lunchtime which they missed for the last two years so there is a lot of pent up demand".
