A Longford, Westmeath and Roscommon Local Link bus driver has launched a personal project to spread Valentine's Day cheer to his elderly passengers.
Enda Sheehan is a driver for LWR Local Link bus service and has been delivering daily groceries, medicines and fuel to passengers who are following the Government's guidelines to cocoon at home.
This week, the Longford man has decided to surprise his older passengers with a special treat in honour of St. Valentine's Day.
He's teamed up with Smyth's Supervalu in Ballymahon and has been delivering chocolate roses to passengers around the region.
He also brought members of staff from Smyth's Supervalu, who have been taking the calls from the customers in question and coordinating their deliveries.
Enda says that everyone involved strictly followed health and safety guidelines at all times and that it was important for the elderly customers to be able to put a face to the voice on the phone.
Speaking to Shannonside fm news, he says 'I never just drop and run with these messages- I will always spend 5- or 10-minutes chatting. I may be the only person they will see so it's important they know they can rely on me and on Local Link."
