A Labour General Election candidate says she would like to see the party amalgamate with the Social Democrats.
Sligo Councillor Nessa Cosgrove ran for the Labour party in Sligo-Leitrim receiving 3.7% of first preference votes according to tallies.
"I'd love to see the Social Democrat's with us" explained Cosgrove. "If Labour or Social Democrats went in with Fianna Fail or Fine Gael, or Sinn Fein or on their own, they'd get a kicking". Cosgrave admitted she would like to see the merger straight away but added; "I dont think the social democarats are that interested".
