An umbrella group for people with neurological issues are highlighting the lack of services for people in Roscommon and surrounding areas.
The Neurological Alliance of Ireland says despite funding being promised for a team of neuro rehab experts there hasn't been any advertising so far in the service area covering, Roscommon, Mayo and Galway.
The community teams are designed to bring together health care professionals from a range of disciplines including occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and physiotherapy.
Magdalen Rogers from the Neurological Alliance says they want people to put pressure on their politicians to find out why the HSE haven't begun these teams, even though the funding has been approved.
She says the services they would provide are vital for people suffering a wide range of issues and delays in these treatments have a huge impact.
''These aren't a luxury or add ons these are really critical, people have this vital window of recovery when they have things like a stroke or acquired brain injury or when they're living in the community with multiple sclerosis they need these services now. They need access to physiotherapy and speech and language to preserve their level of functioning, to preserve their abilities to not deteriorate any further and we don't want to see people going into hospital or nursing homes or long term care unnecessarily. The whole emphasis should be to keep people well and living in their own homes for as long as possible.''
