A local Fianna Fail TD has condemned the HSE's failure to staff a new MRI scanner in Mullingar Regional Hospital.
More than €1 million was raised by the voluntary organisation, Friends of Regional Hospital Mullingar, for the installation of the long-awaited equipment.
The funding, however, did not include staff, and as a result the machine cannot currently be operated.
Fianna Fail's Robert Troy has claimed it is 'utterly unacceptable' that the HSE has not staffed the MRI scanner.
Deputy Troy outlined that a business case will be submitted as part of the Multi-annual Urgent and Emergency Care Plan for funding.
