Preparatory work required for planning for the Carrick on Shannon to Battlebridge blueway can begin with the announcement of grant aid worth over 475,000 euro from the Department of Rural Affairs today.
In Lanesboro pre-planning reports will also now progress with almost 470,000 euro in funding to Longford County Council.
The local authorities will match fund the work by up to 150,000 euro.

In Roscommon, Ballaghadeereen's regeneration will begin with an allocation of over 430,000 euro which will be supplemented by over 130,000 euro from Roscommon County Council.
