According to the local authority, the building will be converted into a multi-purpose sporting facility hosting local groups including the Lanesboro Tri-Athlon club, the local boxing club and Lanesboro National School among others.

The transfer of the premises will take place after required restoration works are identified and carried out on the roof of the building.

It's expected that details on how local organisations can apply for part of the new funds will be announced in the coming weeks.
