A large crowd is expected in Athlone on next Monday morning for the centenary celebrations surrounding the handover of the barracks to the Irish Free State.
A major military parade is being planned to mark the event with the army personnel marching though the town and across the bridge at 11 o' clock that morning.
The parade will be made up of army soldiers, army band musicians, and retired members, as well as a number of army vehicles from the past and present.
