Leitrim is currently reporting the highest levels of Covid transmission in relation to population in the country.
However, new figures from the Health Protection and Surveillance Centre show that infection numbers have dropped nationwide over the past month.
There were just 27 cases of the virus reported in the Shannonside region over the last week, with 745 notified nationally.
While that number is significantly lower than recent figures, medical experts are warning the public that hospitals and other health services are still under pressure from Covid and other respiratory illnesses.
Leitrim has the highest incidence rate in the country this week, at 31, with the national average rate standing at 11.
10 cases were registered with the HSE last week compared to 27 in the same week in January.
Roscommon are dealing with 12 new cases and an incidence rate of 18.6, while Longford has the lowest locally at 5 new cases.
Medical experts have warned that many who've contracted Covid may not have registered the positive with the health service, and people should remain cautious.
