Custume Barracks in Athlone is to see the graduation of its newest training platoon of troopers from bootcamp this afternoon.
The 34th Platoon has been undergoing 15 weeks of foot drills, physical fitness and weapons training at the Athlone Barracks in preparation for becoming Two Star Infantry Soldiers.
On completion of the 15-week programme, the troops commenced the 10-week long Three Star Course designed to qualify them to begin further weapons training and deploy overseas with the Defence Forces.
The graduating troops are composed of men and women from Ireland as well as some from Poland, Scotland, Moldova, Finland, and England.
This afternoon's ceremony will be marked with a military parade in Custume Barracks and a performance by the Army Band.
