A learner-driver is set to appear in court, accused of driving while 14 times over the drink-driving limit in Carrick-on-Shannon.
Gardai stopped and searched his vehicle while on mobile patrol in the area.
The force said: "He was a learner driver, driving unaccompanied and had no insurance. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and conveyed to Carrick-on-Shannon Garda Station."
A breath test was taken at a garda station, which allegedly found him to be 14 times over the limit.
A Garda spokesman added: "He was charged and will appear at a sitting of Carrick-on-Shannon District Court in the coming weeks."
