A local career guidance counsellor says leaving cert students should not let their results received today define them.
Career guidance Counsellor Betty Mcloughlin said there are many career ways and study paths to access whatever course they want regardless of what points received.
One thousand extra courses have been added into the third level system this year which is hoped to take some pressure of the CAO points system.
The Westmeath native told The Joe Finnegan Show that students have a long wait until CAO offers are released next Thursday.
"Today they have the results but ones who have to wait for CAO results they have to wait until next Thursday a 2pm. So this is a very stressful time for students waiting to see the offers that they have received, while points might not be much different compared to last year because points are very much in line with was got last year."
