A public consultation day for a new blueway project in Leitrim will get underway later this morning.
The local authority is hoping to develop an 11km link between Carrick-on-Shannon to Leitrim village and onto the existing Battlebridge blueway which allows access to Acres Lake in Drumshanbo.
As part of the consultation process locals will be given a chance to examine the emerging preferred route corridor at an event in the Bush Hotel from 10am until 8pm this evening.
It's hoped that the new pedestrian and cycleway will become a major tourism attraction for the region and also develop new access to the Acres Lake Boardwalk Trail, the Shannon Erne Blueway and the Sheemore Recreational Trail.
All are welcome to attend today's event.
