Leitrim Businesses received the lowest amount nationwide in Government energy cost supports.
New figures presented in the Dail show just 125 Leitrim businesses applied for the Temporary Business Energy Support Scheme from September 2022 to the present date.
The Revenue Scheme allows qualifying businesses to who have recorded an increase of 50 percent in electricity or gas prices to offset 40 percent of the increase. Close to €85,000 was provided to tackle high energy bill costs among local businesses in the county, with just one application refused by the Department in Leitrim. Roscommon say the highest uptake in the support, where €280,950 was allocated to 164 companies struggling with utility bills. Longford occupies the middle of the list, with 148 applications made to revenue with all but 2 accepted.
€114,108 was awarded to Longford Businesses to reduce energy costs.
The highest levels of support from the scheme was seen in Dublin and in Cork where almost 4 million euro and 1.7 million euro were allocated respectively.
