The cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council, Paddy O'Rourke, is running in the Seanad elections next month.
The Fianna Fáil councillor has received a nomination from the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association to run on the agricultural panel.
The Carrigallen man ran in the general election in Sligo-Leitrim last month, but was not elected.

He says he's looking forward to another election next month.
