A Community in Leitrim is supporting a locally based Ukrainian woman following the death four members of her family in a Russian strike in the Kherson Region over the weekend.
Kateryna Konishcheva, who now lives and works in Carrick on Shannon, discovered yesterday that four members of her family, including her 24 day old sister and 11 year old brother have been killed by Russian artillery.
The 18 year old Ukrainian Woman, who fled the war last year, currently works part-time at BR Bistro & Bar in Carrick on Shannon.
The Bistro has been closed today but is reopening this afternoon to host a support service for Kateryna.
Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show, Manager of the Bistro, Bashkim Berisha, says they will do everything they can to help her:
'Today we are organising a support service for Kateryna. The BR Bistro door will be open between 3pm and 7 pm today.
Kateryna and her boyfriend Alexander will be present, so anyone who wishes to sign the condolence book or who wants to support in any way is welcome.
Really we had to unite and help her. Kateryna is going to need help, today, tomorrow, in the future, in the next couple of years...
This is just tragic.'
