Compliance with advisory notices on septic tanks has increased in Leitrim according to the local authority
The council was responding to a report published by the Environmental Protection Agency showing Leitrim had one of the highest amount of failed septic tank inspections last year.
It also showed that 57% of defects were fixed, one of the lowest nationally.
In a statement issued to Shannonside FM, Leitrim County Council says that compliance with advisory notices has increased from 57% at the end of last year to 65% in mid 2023.
They continue saying that they have raised concerns with government concerning grant funding, with a view to improving eligibility and grant take up by homeowners.
The council concludes by explaining that they are continuously and pro-actively engaging with homeowners to close open septic tank notices.
