Leitrim County Council have undertaken to review the location of public litter bins across Carrick-on-Shannon. The call was made by local Councillor Cormac Flynn as part of his motion to identify pinch points in the town that are not served by bins. According to the Sinn Féin Councillor some areas such as bus stops and walking trails are seeing increases in littering due to a lack of bins.
Speaking at the October meeting of the Carrick-on-Shannon Municipal District, Councillor Flynn stated he was not looking to add more bins to the town. He believes that existing litter infrastructure is sufficient if located properly.
