Councillor Maeve Reynolds believes that the ESB are having to spend too much time clearing trees and should be helped by the Defence Forces.

A Leitrim Councillor has called for the army to be deployed to the region to help the ESB access faults blocked by fallen forestry.

Maeve Reynolds says Leitrim is a special case as it's the most afforested county nationwide.

She says ESB crews are having their time wasted removing trees in order to access sites.
