A local councillor participated in an anti-fracking protest in Dublin yesterday.
Leitrim councillor Eddie Mitchell marched down O'Connell Street with members of Love Leitrim and representatives from Fridays for the Future, calling for the ban of fracking initiatives in Ireland.
A crowd of over 200 people gathered at the protest in the capital.
Fracking has been a heavily debated topic in many countries, as it has caused health risks in areas where it was practiced, as well as pollution.
The councillor has previously expressed his concern with Government plans to build a Strategic Gas Emergency Reserve in the form of a fracked gas import terminal.
