A Leitrim Councillor is calling on the RSA to employ more staff to deal with large driving test backlogs.
It comes as new figures reveal the Road Safety Authority were contacted 12 hundred times by public representatives since the beginning of last year in relation to waiting lists.
Councillor Brendan Barry claims anyone looking for a test in the Carrick on Shannon area will have to wait until May.
The Sinn Fein representative says it's having a major impact on young people and their employment.
"There has been huge delays even before covid, and covid made the problem worse. Many more people need to be employed to try and get these tests done an awful lot quicker than what's happening at the minute. Some people need it for work like emergency care workers, frontline staff, young people getting a job where it's a condition of their employment to have a full driving license, especially with the cost of insurance".
