The government and Leitrim County Council is being called on to provide special funds for farmers to deal with ash dieback.
The destructive disease was discovered in the county in 2012, and has since been reported in several counties across the country.
At the November meeting of Ballinamore municipal district, Councillor Brendan Barry urged the local authority and the government to provide money to tackle the disease on ash trees by roadsides.
The Sinn Fein Councillor says the disease presents a road safety issue and needs to be tackled.
