Leitrim councillor calls to limit air travel over environmental concerns

Councillor Des Guckian claims that the high number of flights passing over Leitrim and the surrounding region is resulting in the pollution of the surrounding country side.

A Leitrim Councillor is calling on the Government to limit air travel over the region over concerns it's causing environmental damage. Councillor Des Guckian claims that the high number of flights passing over Leitrim and the surrounding region is resulting in the pollution of the surrounding country side. The former Geography teacher has argued that jet fuel and exhaust emitted by these planes is affecting rainfall levels and is resulting in harmful chemicals effecting the land.

Councillor Guckian has called for a reduction in the number of commercial flights let through Irish Airspace. Speaking to Shannonside FM News, the Leitrim Councillor says that farmers are being blamed unfairly for climate change while airlines get away free:
