A Leitrim Councillor is calling on the Government to limit air travel over the region over concerns it's causing environmental damage. Councillor Des Guckian claims that the high number of flights passing over Leitrim and the surrounding region is resulting in the pollution of the surrounding country side. The former Geography teacher has argued that jet fuel and exhaust emitted by these planes is affecting rainfall levels and is resulting in harmful chemicals effecting the land.
