Leitrim councillor Enda McGloin has announced that he is to resign the Fine Gael whip on Leitrim County Council.
In a statement to Shannonside FM news, councillor McGloin says he apologises unreservedly for his attendance at the golfing society dinner in Clifden on Wednesday.
He says he should not have attended in light of the public health guidelines.

Councillor McGloin says that in line with the sanction on his Oireachtas colleagues, he is informing his party leader that he is resigning the Fine Gael whip on Leitrim County Council.
