A Leitrim councillor is expressing her surprise at a well-known building being put up for sale.
Leitrim County Council has announced that they are looking for expressions of interest for the purchase of the former Town Hall located in Carrick on Shannon.
Expressions of interest in the property are now open with a deadline of 4pm on Thursday the 30th of March.
Local councillor, Finola Armstrong Maguire, hopes there will be great interest in the building.
"Well initially when I heard it, I was surprised because buildings because buildings like it don't come on the market often and it's really for sale. The council have looked at it's stock of buildings and the cost to upgrade it for their use going forward for 2030 standards are prohibitive. So now it's open to the public to come up with their ideas for it and hopefully it will be sold. It could be private, community, or commercial. It's full of potential. It's a fabolous building and I do hope there'll be a great interest in it"
