A Leitrim councillor says drainage and maintenance of small rivers will reduce the impact of flash flooding on people's homes.
The Rynn and other families in Ballinaglera are counting the cost of damage caused by flash floods on Monday where up to 4 foot of water entered their pub, shop and other properties.
Independent Councillor Gerry Dolan who came through the area says he witnessed silt, turf and other debris in the water that had come down the mountain and from the Stoney River.
He says a small project to clean the Stoney and Yellow rivers would be beneficial:
