A Leitrim Councillor is part of a delegation commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement at the European Parliament this week.
Enda Stenson who's a member of the committee of the regions attended the special meeting which supported peace and promoted economic stability in the north and border counties.
Councillor Stenson believes Europe has played a significant role in the agreement over the years.
Despite the UK's withdrawl from the EU, cross border programmes such as Peace Plus continues to work on reconciliation in Northern Ireland.
Speaking to Shannonside FM from Strasbourg the independent representative said it was heartening to hear Europe's view on no hard border in Ireland.
'It is an honour for be to be here in the European Parliament today .
Speakers are currently emphasizing the role that Europe pays in the whole agreement and the fact that we have Brexit now, Europe has to even double it efforts to make sure that there is never a hard border on the island of Ireland .
We must support the Windsor Agreement and must see everyone on the same page in order to support border communities.'
