A local Councillor will raise the issue of damp and mold in council homes in Leitrim today.
Councillor Des Guckian will bring the issue before the October meeting of the Carrick on Shannon Municipal District after a number of residents have raised serious health concerns.
The Leitrim Councillor is accusing the council of failing to act to help tenants with lung and breathing problems who are dealing with persistent mold in their council homes.
Councillor Guckian states in his motion that this is occurring in a number of houses in both Mohill and Carrick on Shannon.
One such couple, Deborah and Gary spoke to Shannonside News earlier this month about how their council property is badly affected by black mold.
They've raised concerns that the situation is having a serious effect on their health, with the couple scared it will effect Deborarh's pregnancy.
The couple have criticised the local authority for their response and have urged the council to rehome them to alleviate their health concerns.
The issue will be raised at the Council meeting later this morning.
