A long-serving Leitrim councillor has claimed Ukrainian refugees have been given priority for housing over homeless local people.
Data published in the Irish Independent shows there are 822 Ukrainian refugees in state accommodation in Leitrim, along with 538 in Roscommon and 320 in Longford.
There are a further 104 asylum-seekers in Leitrim, along with 194 in Roscommon and 136 in Longford, who are housed by the International Protection Application Service.
Councillor Gerry Dolan from Drumshanbo says it’s worsening Ireland’s housing crisis.
