A Leitrim Councillor has expressed his doubt that a multi-million euro streetscape plan in Carrick on Shannon will be complete by July 2021.
Members of the Carrick.M.D were this week told that all works on the streetscape plan should be complete by next summer after unforeseen delays affected the pace of work carried out by contractors.
The Council expressed its frustration at the lack of progress and engaged with the company in recent weeks to try and speed up the works which began earlier this year but were delayed due to the first Covid lockdown.
Issues at a quarry as well as the work being more complicated than first envisaged were highlighted as some stumbling blocks to quicker progress.
Councillor Des Guickian, who has been critical of the Council's approach to the delays, and claimed some businesses were "near tears" as a result, is unsure the new completion dates will be met :
