A Leitrim Councillor believes more jobs must be secured for the county.
Enda Stenson's call comes following a visit by the IDA to Leitrim in recent weeks.
The Independent representative believes the region is an attractive place for multinationals with a good road and rail network as well as an educated workforce from the Atlantic TU.
Speaking at a meeting of the county council today he hopes the local authority will work with the IDA and Enterprise Ireland to create new jobs, with fellow members also calling for an annual meeting to be held with both organisations to track progress.
The Eslin native believes any potential investment in Leitrim will encourage young people to stay local.
" A certain level of jobs can be created within the county, that we can keep our young people, and we won't keep them all and some people want to travel. It's very important that in Leitrim, or in any other county, that we can provide a certain level of jobs for young people. That's the lifeblood of the county and keeps communities together.
