This month's meeting of the local authority in Leitrim heard several contributions on the school transport issue

Leitrim County Councillors have united over major concerns on capacity issues facing local school transport.

During a recent meeting of Leitrim County Council, motions were put forward by Councillors Padraig Fallon, Sean McGowan, Paddy O'Rourke and Ita Reynolds Flynn highlighted the problems facing parents trying to secure school bus places for their children.

According to the Department of Education, capacity limits on post-primary school transport will remain in place for the short term, with secondary school buses currently locked at 50 percent.
