Over 500 people are waiting for social housing across County Leitrim according to documents prepared by the Council.

Leitrim County Council has opened the public consultation on plans to develop two homes in Carrick-on-Shannon. The local authority is looking to develop two semi-detached bungalows accessed off Breffni Crescent at Townparks, Carrick-on-Shannon, County Leitrim

Documents submitted with the planning application reveal that there are currently 523 people on the waiting list for social housing in the county - with 184 applicants based in the -Leitrim Village / Carrick on Shannon / Jamestown / Drumsna / Annaduff areas.

The Council is currently processing 142 households requiring 1 or 2 bed accommodation and a further 42 requiring family type accommodation. The public consultation process runs until April 7th next - and plan can be inspected at the planning office or online.
