Leitrim County Council has warned illegal traders that they will pursue action against anyone operating without a licence.
Concerns over casual trading outside of local authority regulations in Drumshambo were raised at the April meeting of the Ballinamore M.D. Councillor Enda McGloin sought an update in relation to the Council's casual bye-laws after concerns over trading in public areas in the town.
The council confirmed that two traders are currently permitted to operate in the town and an application for a third licence has been submitted to the local authority which is currently being considered.
The Council also confirmed that it is aware of operators trading in the evenings when livestock sales take place, which is outside of the permitted times of 8am to 7pm and a Council spokesperson also confirmed that the Planning Authority will consider pursuing enforcement proceedings against these traders.
