A Leitrim CPR and defibrillator group is urging the public to take part in its life saving training.
Michael O'Dell from the Ballinamore Heartsafe group says the majority of cardiac arrests happen outside of hospital and it's important people in the community are trained to assist.
A meeting will take place at Prior's Bar on High Street at 8pm this evening and all are welcome to sign up for the course which will begin shortly.
The group which was formed in 2009 and is also welcoming news of the removal of VAT on defibrillators in last week's Budget.
Michael says an incident which took place in Ballinamore in recent days and required medical assistance has highlighted the need for local trained volunteers.
