Leitrim disability services have been praised over improvements to infection control measures at two facilities in the county.
Shannon Quay provides residential and respite care for up to 4 adults with a disability and is run by the HSE.
While Sunbeam Lodge Community Group Home in Carrick on Shannon provides seven day accommodation to male and female adults with a moderate to profound intellectual disability who also present with other disorders.
Both centres had been subject to inspections last year that noted improvements were needed in infection control measures.
Following two unannounced subsequent inspections in March and April, both centres were noted to have good procedures for the controlling and management of infection.
Inspectors stated that residents were found to enjoy a safe, clean home with staff recorded as treating service users with respect.
HIQA inspectors noted that some further infection control measures required improvement in the area of oversight.
