Fianna Fail members of Leitrim County Council have become the latest local authority members to express their opposition to the proposed coalition between their party, Fine Gael and the Greens.
In a letter sent yesterday to the party leader Michael Martin, the Leitrim Fianna Fail members say they are unanimous in their opposition to the idea, and are disappointed that local councillors and party members seem to have little or no say in this kind of decision making.
The letter says the councillors believe a National/Unity party would be much better at this difficult time, and they fear for the future of the party if this proposed participation in government goes ahead.
The letter from the Leitrim Fianna Fail councillors follow similar moves from the Fianna Fail members on Westmeath and Donegal councils in recent weeks, and from Fine Gael members on the Mayo local authority.
