Leitrim Fine Gael selection convention expected in September

Fine Gael's Sligo-Leitrim selection convention for the general election is expected to be held on September 1st.

This date has been proposed by the party locally, and is awaiting sign-off from party headquarters.

Sitting TD Frank Feighan is seeking to retain his seat, while Sligo Councillor Thomas Walsh is 'actively considering' seeking a nomination.

Boyle native Feighan, who lives in Sligo, says he wants to continue in politics for at least another five years.
