A Leitrim Councillor is expressing concern about local transport companies losing out on tenders for the Local Link service.
It's emerged recently that Wrynn Transport who have been operating the Ballinamore to Carrick-on-Shannon service have lost the contract to a company from Kilkenny and its understood another operator in north Leitrim has lost out to a company from outside the county as well.
It's understood that the Local Link service wanted bigger buses to be used on some routes and want to expand the services currently available.
Fianna Fail Councillor Caillian Ellis though says he believes bigger operators will have to be paid much more than the local companies due to investment in new buses and he doesn't see it making sense economically.
Councillor Ellis says he's also concerned bigger buses won't be able to provide the same service to local people…
