Restaurants are going to begin losing staff if the return of indoor dining is delayed due to the spread of the delta variant of Covid-19.
That's according to Leitrim restaurateur, Jo O'Brien, who says the work that goes into maintaining outdoor dining is not sustainable for the industry.
The Taoiseach, Tánaiste and Health Minister have all indicated that it's too soon at this stage to provide clarity on the situation, with a decision on the next step in reopening delayed until next week.
Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show today, the owner of Vito's Restaurant says staff members recorded having walked over 28,000 steps in one shift due to tables being set up outside the restaurant.
