Just 2% of homes in Leitrim have a Building Energy Rating of A.
Figures from the Central Statistics Office show the Shannonside region had one of the lowest percentages of A rated homes nationally at the end of last year
The latest release from the CSO breaks down the percentage of BER rated homes by county up to December of last year. The figures show that Leitrim has the lowest percentage of A rated homes nationally at 2%, equal to 160 homes. 352 homes in Longford have an A rating which equates to 4%. While 4% of homes in Roscommon have an A rating, equal to 513 homes. The majority of homes in all three counties have an energy rating of between C2 and D1 Kildare has the higest proportion of houses with an A rating, at 23%. The most popular method for heating homes remains Heating Oil with 69% of homes in Roscommon using it as the main source of heat, the 3rd highest proportion nationally.
66% of homes in Leitrim and 64% in Longford have oil as their main source of heating.
