A local pride organisation has welcomed a new plan to expand rural LGBT events
LGBT Ireland's strategic plan for 2023 to 2027 aims to make Ireland the most inclusive place in Europe for members of the LGBT community.
Leitrim's first ever pride parade took place last year in Carrick On Shannon
Events coordinator at Leitrim Pride, Isolde Carmody, says expansion of these events into more towns across the county would be of great benefit to people.
"What we would like is for those kind of celebrations to be accessible to people in all of those different parts of the county. In our future plan we are hoping to host events within those other towns but it's the support, the logistics, and the costs, but that's our aim that wherever you might live, there's something you can get to locally to connect with the local LGBT community and for the wider community to support those local members".
