Leitrim is the only county in Ireland that has not recorded a single application from a householder to have their home deep retrofitted.
Longford and Roscommon are also near the bottom of the table when it comes to accessing a government scheme to insulate and make homes more energy efficient:
The Irish examiner figures suggest that just 89 homes out of a target of over 62,000 have been deeply retrofitted as part of a government scheme this year.
The national home energy upgrade scheme offers grants to householders to improve energy efficient.
However, figures published today show that no applications were and by homeowner in Leitrim, and just six in Longford and five in Roscommon.
At local authority levels Roscommon County Council confirmed recently to Shannonside FM that they completed their full allocation of 26 units in 2021 and are on target to complete their 2022 programme of 52 units.
In Leitrim, last year 10 units were approved for Energy Efficiency Retrofit funding and this year 16 units were approved for funding and 14 units are on-site at various stages of completion with 2 units at procurement stage.
No figures were available from Longford County Council.
