A group of concerned residents are calling for funding due to be paid to consultants for work on the N4 Carrick-on-Shannon by pass project to be withheld.
Almost 500 homeowners between Liseeghan and Faulties have written to TII expressing their unhappiness at the public consultation process carried out by ARUP and Leitrim County Council for the Carrick-Dromod road upgrade.
The group claims that research carried out on the route was conducted during lockdowns and is not a true representation of traffic levels in certain areas.
They are also concerned at the plans to upgrade the route between Faulties and Liseeghan which they feel may not be able for an increase in traffic
Spokesperson Michael McManus feels they have valid concerns that need to be addressed:
"At least 480 of them (householders) who Leitrim County Council represent are not happy with that and they are calling for the funding to be withheld from the company until a proper display and a proper consultation and a proper route is selected that won't be affecting them in that devastating way.
And of course the standard answer that would have been given there was, 'well that will all be at the planning stage' and 'this is only a public display' but I think when you get to that stage it's near the approval point and it's too late."
